Stiletto SL8

Stiletto SL8, affectionately known as Stella, is a 2022 mare by On Ira out of our homebred mare My Remembrance SL8 (Jolly Stone SL8). Already standing over 17.1 hands, Stella is an impressive mare with exceptional presence, powerful movement, and a naturally balanced canter. As a third-generation homebred, she represents the continued growth of the Slate Equestrian breeding program and the strength of the maternal families we are carefully developing. Unfortunately, an injury as a foal prevented Stella from pursuing a performance career, allowing her to begin her contribution to our breeding program instead.

Her sire On Ira enjoyed a successful international jumping career, competing at the 1.60m level. As a seven-year-old he jumped double clear at the World Championships in Lanaken, was named the best eight-year-old at the CSIO of La Baule, and later became a Grand International winner. On Ira is perhaps best known for clearing 2.20 metres in the Puissance at the CSIO of Rome, showcasing his exceptional scope and courage. He consistently passes on athleticism, carefulness, rideability, and the powerful canter that make his offspring well suited to modern hunter and jumper sport.

On the dam side, we find My Remembrance SL8, one of the first mares retained from our own breeding program. Sired by Jolly Stone SL8 and out of Ambiance SL8 (Apiro), Poppy carries forward a carefully cultivated maternal line built on proven European bloodlines, athleticism, and exceptional rideability. This family continues to demonstrate the qualities that define our breeding program: correct conformation, quality movement, outstanding temperaments, and the ability to excel in sport.

Stiletto SL8 represents the future of Slate Equestrian. As the third generation of mares bred and retained within our program, she embodies our long-term vision of developing strong maternal families capable of producing modern hunter and jumper prospects for generations to come.
